The Faculty of Arts and Design at Ho Technical University (HTU) has officially launched its 6th Week Celebration, themed “Trend Shock”.
The launch took place on Tuesday July 23, 2024, with Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga delivering the keynote address.
He encouraged students to strive for excellence in their artistic endeavors, aiming to produce works that can compete on the global stage.
Prof. Honyenuga emphasized the University’s commitment to establishing international linkages, enabling students’ works to gain global recognition.
According to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, Dr. Richard Gbadegbe, the theme “trend shock” for the celebration is to challenge students to use unconventional materials and technology to produce eco-friendly garments. This initiative is also aligned with the promotion of the circular economy of arts and design in fashion.
The week’s lineup includes cooking competition, inter- faculty games, traditional attire displays, “borborbor” and seminars.
The climax of the celebration will be a fashion show and art presentation on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
