The World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the Africa Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Canada, and the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has commenced a capacity-building workshop in Ho for some 50 selected health professionals from diverse fields and other relevant professionals who work to respond to emergency issues in Ghana.
The workshop aims to enhance their ability to respond effectively to health emergencies and to ensure that every level of the health system, from national to local, is prepared to act promptly in the face of crises.
By integrating expertise from different disciplines, the programme aims to create a seamless response network that can operate efficiently under pressure.
The Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Franklin Asiedu-Bekoe, in an interview after the opening ceremony on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Chances Hotel said the workshop is to build a robust and integrated systems across all professionals to better handle emergencies.
The National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO is also represented.
Ghana, like many countries, faced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the country’s swift and decisive response helped mitigate the spread of the virus.
